Welcome to the Orthodontic Web Site of Dr. Daniel R. Fiehrer

Why Should I Consider Orthodontics?
Office Policies Welcome! Creating attractive smiles is what we are all about, and chances are that if you are considering orthodontics for you or your child we can help.

Why should I consider orthodontics? Improperly aligned teeth are more difficult to brush. This makes them more prone to tooth decay and periodontal disease which may cause premature loss of teeth. Therefore you can see that cosmetics aren't the only reason for orthodontic treatment.

Our Philosophy
Our philosophy of orthodontic treatment involves considering how treatment affects the entire face. Dr Fiehrer has additional training in functional jaw orthopedics, which is especially important in treating skeletal problems. Many of his patients receive functional appliances to correct these problems.

How Do I Get Started?
How do you get started? Orthodontic treatment is a gradual process which generally takes place over a 14 to 28 month period, depending upon you or your child's needs.

  • First appointment is a general orthodontic examination to determine if you or your child is a candidate for orthodontic treatment. If a child is not ready for treatment he or she will be placed on a recall system to repeat this step at the appropriate time. There is no charge for this initial visit.
  • Second appointment will be devoted to taking orthodontic records, which include X-rays, study models, diagnostic measurements, and photos. These procedures may be done after the first appointment if you or your child is ready for orthodontic treatment.
  • Third appointment is the consultation appointment which will outline to you exactly what treatment will be done, how long it will take, and the results you can expect. If the treatment is for a child we ask that both parents attend. At this time we will also discuss the patient's treatment responsibility.
  • Fourth and fifth appointments are when the actual banding of the teeth occurs.

After the patient has their orthodontic appliance, he or she is usually seen on a monthly basis for adjustments until treatment is completed. Each adjustment appointment generally takes 20 minutes.

Orthodontics is a recognized dental specialty in Montana, and since 1972 Dr. Fiehrer has been certified by the American Association of Orthodontics. Because Dr. Fiehrer's practice is limited to orthodontics, his team works closely with you general dentist to insure all your dental needs are met during treatment.

Financial Considerations
Your investment in orthodontic treatment may be substantial which is why we make it easy to afford. You can expect to pay one quarter to one third of total charges at the banding appointment, with the remaining amount paid in monthly payments during the course of treatment. No carrying charges are imposed.

If you have dental insurance we will take care of completing your forms and submitting all information to your insurance carrier.

Adult Orthodontics
Orthodontic treatment is not only for teens! Your smile can be beautiful and healthy no matter what your age! You will always know what investment your treatment will incur and what your responsibilities are before treatment is started. There are no surprises for anyone. That is why our initial consultation is at no charge.
